1 Who we are

Let Me Hear You (operated at www.letmehearyou.com) is a free, anonymous emotional support platform. We provide a safe, judgment-free space where individuals can share their feelings, emotions, and experiences — by text or voice — and optionally receive a compassionate, thoughtful response.

2 Information we collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate our service:

• Submission content: The text or transcribed voice content you voluntarily share through our form.
• Nickname: Any optional nickname you choose to provide. This is never linked to your real identity.
• Email address: Only if you explicitly opt in to receive a response. See Section 5 for details.
• Basic server logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, page visited, timestamp) retained for security purposes only, for a limited period.

3 How we use your information

We use the information you provide exclusively to:

• Read and respond to your submitted story with compassion and care
• Send a reply to your email address, if you have requested one
• Improve the quality and experience of our platform
• Monitor for any abuse or misuse of the service

We will never use your information to:

• Sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party
• Send unsolicited marketing communications
• Build profiles or track you across the web
• Share your story publicly without explicit written consent

4 Voice transcription

Our voice recording feature uses the Web Speech API, which is built into modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). This means:

• All voice processing happens entirely within your browser on your device.
• No audio recording is ever uploaded, stored, or transmitted to our servers.
• Only the final transcribed text (which you can review and edit before submitting) is sent to us.
• The Web Speech API may be subject to the privacy policy of your browser provider (e.g. Google Chrome's terms for Google's speech recognition service). We encourage you to review your browser's privacy documentation.

5 Email addresses

Providing your email address is entirely optional. You will only be asked for it if you check the box to request a reply or guidance from our team.

• Your email is used solely to send our response to your story.
• It is not added to any mailing list without your separate, explicit consent (via the newsletter subscription form).
• It is not stored in a database after our response has been sent.
• It is never shared with any third party.

6 Cookies and tracking

We use only essential, functional cookies required for the operation of this website. We do not use:

• Advertising or tracking cookies
• Third-party analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics) that track individuals
• Social media tracking pixels
• Fingerprinting or cross-site tracking technologies

If we introduce any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and seek your explicit consent in compliance with applicable privacy law.

7 Third-party services

Our website uses the following third-party services for legitimate technical purposes:

• Google Fonts: To serve the typefaces used on this site. Google may log basic request data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Web Speech API (browser-native): For voice transcription (see Section 4).
• Hostinger (web hosting): Our hosting provider. Standard server logs may be retained per their data processing agreements.

We do not use advertising networks, data brokers, or any service that would compromise your anonymity on this platform.

8 Data retention

We retain submitted stories only as long as necessary to provide a thoughtful response and review for quality purposes. Stories are not maintained in a permanent public archive.

• Email addresses provided for replies are discarded after the response has been sent.
• Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security purposes.
• Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe.

9 Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including rights under the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and other applicable laws. These may include:

Let Me Hear You is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.
